Waste Lagoon Conversions to Wildlife Habitats

The Region of York contracted Todd Brothers Contracting to handle the remediation of two sewage lagoons.

The Region of York contracted Todd Brothers Contracting to handle the remediation of two sewage lagoons.  One located in Schomberg and the other in Mount Albert.  Bio-solids were pushed against the sides of the cells for capping with imported fill.  After capping, fine grading and landscape work turned the lagoons into eco-friendly habitats with native plant species and basking log structures to aid in the adoption of the once waste filled lagoons by wildlife.  Extensive dewatering was also required to keep the lagoons dry.  In total, close to 30,000 m3 of bio-solids were moved onsite.  Our in house global positioning guided survey gear completed the mandatory bathometric surveys, keeping contract volumes accurate.
